Legal Clerk – Witness Management Program
ROLE
We need a Legal Clerk for the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO), District of Colorado (DOCO). The USAO enforces federal laws, represents the United States in court, and ensures justice for victims of crime. Your role as a Legal Clerk will be to support the Witness Management Program by assisting with fact witness coordination, travel, and reimbursement processing. This is a full-time opportunity. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work directly with fact witnesses, ensuring appearance for court, grand jury, pre-trials.
- Receive visitors, calls, inquiries; provide information on appearances, and reimbursements.
- Collect information for files and documents required to arrange travel and reimbursements.
- Notify witnesses of travel, appearance dates, times; identify and address special circumstances.
- Alert AUSAs regarding witness needs including hostile, international, or military/federal employee witnesses.
- Obtain authorization, complete documentation, and secure approvals prior to arranging travel accommodations.
- Provide witnesses with appearance schedules, travel documents, and lodging arrangements per DOJ guidelines.
- Meet arriving witnesses, provide courtroom orientations, accompany to hearings, ensure safe waiting areas.
- Collect documentation, signatures, and prepare reimbursement forms for accurate witness payment processing.
- Submit vouchers, reconcile travel accounts, and furnish information on pending reimbursement requests.
- Coordinate with Courts, Marshals, Probation, Pretrial, investigators, and other relevant justice partners.
- Draft documents and correspondence requiring knowledge of terminology, procedures, and regulations.
- Establish and maintain witness files, databases, calendars, hearings, and scheduling conferences.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to provide word processing and perform data entry/retrieval.
- Ability to review and analyze data and information from multiple sources.
- Ability to establish and maintain case/project files.
- Ability to enter and retrieve data from databases.
- Ability to prepare and format management reports.
- Ability to manipulate, transfer, compute, and print information.
- Ability to prepare and correct reports and correspondence using word processing software.
- Ability to schedule and manage appointments.
- Ability to answer inquiries regarding case-related information as maintained in the database.
- Ability to answer inquiries regarding case-related status.
- Ability to obtain additional information from other agencies/organizations.
- Ability to maintain internal status information on the disposition of designated information, files, and assets.
- Ability to ensure information accuracy and perform analytical computations necessary to process data.
- Ability to provide administrative information and assistance concerning a case or file to other agencies or organizations.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma required.
- Undergraduate degree is preferred.

- Denver, CO 80202
CLEARANCE
- All applicants will be subject to a background investigation (National Agency Check with Inquiries – NACI)
CLIENT
- United States Attorney’s Office (USAO), District of Colorado – Department of Justice (DOJ).
TRAVEL
- Local travel may be required (within 50 miles of Denver).
- Some travel to Washington, D.C. for EOUSA training may be required.
WORK HOURS
- Full time = 40 hours a week, 8 hours a day
