Cyber Security Network Engineer
ROLE
We need an experienced Cyber Security Network Engineer at the New York City Department of Social Services (DSS). DSS enhances the quality of life for all New Yorkers by providing temporary assistance to eligible individuals and families with social service and economic needs, supported by IT Services (ITS) which operates the critical technology infrastructure behind the agency’s programs. DSS is currently executing a large-scale Data Center Co-location and Migration Project to consolidate multiple data centers into a new facility at 11 MetroTech in Brooklyn, replacing end-of-life infrastructure and mitigating risk of service disruption to agency operations. In this role, you will work with the data center architect to assess and map the network across all locations and environments using tools such as ServiceNow ITOM and AppDynamics, perform inventory and asset discovery, identify critical applications and infrastructure, and create detailed network architecture maps. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Objective: Work with DC Architect to assess and map the network in all Locations / Environments using existing tools such as SNOW ITOM and app dynamics, and any configuration management database.
  • Scope: Map network elements in all environments and locations - hoteling, OTI, Cloud.
  • Tasks Breakdown:
    • Inventory and asset discovery in ALL locations / Environments
    • Identify critical applications and services
    • Identify critical infrastructure
    • Create network architecture map of sufficient detail
    • Identify network traffic and behavior

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • 5+ years of experience in documenting network security architecture and design
  • 5+ years of experience in managing and configuring Firewall Rules
  • 5+ years of experience in managing VPNs
  • 5+ years of experience in auditing network device configurations
  • 3+ years of experience in Web Application Firewall Management
  • 5+ years of experience in Agile Environment Collaboration
  • 5+ years of experience in Project Management
  • 5+ years of experience in Cross-Functional Team Collaboration
  • 5+ years of experience in Client Engagement & Communication
  • 5+ years of experience with Tools: Ansible, WireShark, Crowdstrike, Splunk, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field – preferred
