FOIA Processing Agent
ROLE
We need a FOIA Processing Agent for the Joint Task Force Guantanamo (JTF-GTMO), under the United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM). USSOUTHCOM is responsible for command and control of all U.S. military operations in its designated region, including security cooperation activities and military operations supporting the war on terrorism. JTF-GTMO operates as a subordinate element within USSOUTHCOM, overseeing detainee operations and related legal processes. Your role as a FOIA Processing Agent will be to assist the FOIA Program Manager in processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. The FOIA Processing Agent shall process FOIA requests using the department’s FOIA request management tracking system. This is a full-time opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Other Considerations: applicants will be subject to a background investigation. Individual’s primary workstation is in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of the time.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assemble legal documents and evidence, review cases, redact information, and apply exemptions as necessary.
- Preparing the appropriate responses and electronically submit to Government staff for approvals.
- Compile, scan, and prepare reports, documents, briefing materials, and various correspondences.
- Understand the organizational policies and procedures for accuracy of solutions and deliverables.
- At least one (1) year experience in processing FOIA requests and redacting documents as a primary responsibility
- English language proficiency to read, write, and speak, professionally
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, SAFE, and Redact Express.
- Demonstrate a commitment to quality and customer support
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- US Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
- Clearance Required. Either:
- Active Top Secret (TS/SCI)
- Active Secret Clearance with eligibility for an Interim Top Secret (TS/SCI)
- United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, Joint Task Force – Guantanamo Bay (JTF-GTMO)
- Travel not required
- Monday – Friday. Between the hours of 8:00am – 4:30pm. Except Federal Holidays.
