ROLE
We need an experienced Gateway Automation Engineer at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This position supports the IRS Enterprise API Gateway Modernization and Operations (EAGMO) effort at the gateway automation layer. In this role, you will develop and validate automation components integrating with Government owned CI/CD platforms, support automated validation gates for onboarding and migration workflows, maintain observability integration through AppDynamics/ELK and support the OpenTelemetry roadmap, troubleshoot product specific automation components, and support dual run validation during migration. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and validates EAG/API-gateway automation components (pipeline integration touchpoints, deployment scripts, configuration templates) that integrate with Government-owned CI/CD platforms.
- Supports automated validation gates within onboarding and migration workflows -- specification validation, governance checks, telemetry validation, migration-readiness checks.
- Assists in enhancing and maintaining observability integration (AppDynamics/ELK dashboards) and supports the OpenTelemetry implementation roadmap at the gateway-automation layer.
- Provides configuration and troubleshooting support for automation components tied to product-specific gateway functionality, distinct from enterprise-wide DevSecOps/CI/CD ownership.
- Supports dual-run automation needs during migration (parallel pipeline validation, defect resolution related to automated workflows).
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- 7 years of experience performing similar duties to this role
- Experience developing and validating EAG/API-gateway automation components that integrate with government-owned CI/CD pipelines.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- MBI is preferred
LOCATION
- Remote – Preferred to be based in National Capital Region
CLEARANCE
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident is required
- Ability to obtain IRS Minimum Background Investigation security clearance

COMPENSATION
- Salary range: $135,000 – $155,000
