WDS Migration Consultant
ROLE
We need an experienced WDS Migration Consultant at the New York City Department of Social Services (DSS). DSS enhances the quality of life for all New Yorkers by providing temporary assistance to eligible individuals and families with social service and economic needs, supported by IT Services (ITS) which operates the critical technology infrastructure behind the agency’s programs. DSS is currently executing a large-scale Data Center Co-location and Migration Project to consolidate multiple data centers into a new facility at 11 MetroTech in Brooklyn, replacing end-of-life infrastructure and mitigating risk of service disruption to agency operations. In this role, you will deploy and configure prerequisite software for web application functionality, configure and validate web server settings, create firewall requests and DNS entries, configure load balancing for high availability, and conduct comprehensive pre-production validation before deployment. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Software Installation & Configuration - Deploy and configure prerequisite software essential for Web Application functionality.
- Web Server Configuration & Testing - Configure and validate Web server settings to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Network & Security Integration - create firewall requests, create configure load balancing for high availability, and create DNS entries to enhance accessibility and resilience.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery Implementation - Install and configure backup agents, followed by restore testing to ensure data integrity and recovery capabilities.
- Pre-Production Validation - Conduct comprehensive testing, identify and resolve issues, and finalize configurations before production deployment
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- 4+ years of enterprise systems administration experience and strong hands-on experience with: Windows Server administration (2016/2019/2022/2025), DNS, TCP/IP networking fundamentals, IIS web server configuration and support.
- 4+ years of experience supporting data center migration or infrastructure modernization initiatives.
- 4+ years of providing Hyper Care support post migration of Microsoft Window servers and applications, user support.
- 4+ years of experience configuring and troubleshooting web traffic using IIS and reverse proxy/load balancer technologies.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field – preferred

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION

RELOCATION

COMPENSATION
- Compensation Range: $54.95 - $76.92/hr commensurate on experience
