Paralegal / Legal Assistant III ROLE We need an experienced Paralegal for the Pennsylvania Assistant United States Attorneys (PA-AUSA). In this role, you will provide a variety of legal assistance to the Criminal Division, including reviewing and preparing a variety of legal documents. The work requires knowledge of the processes, procedures, and practices of legal support activities in conjunction with knowledge of office skills to increase the effectiveness of the assigned AUSAs. RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare electronic court filings using ECF/PACER
Assist in performing legal research
Utilize automated legal research tools such as Court link, public databases and/or program-specific legal matters
Support criminal or civil proceedings, e.g., electronic discovery
Help with pretrial and trial by preparing, reviewing, and organizing case file information and trial binders
Schedule witnesses and court reporters
Prepare internal authorizations for requesting goods/services such as deposition transcripts
Interact with agencies and other internal personnel
Track filings, hearings and trial dates, and schedule conferences, interviews, and other deadlines for AUSAs
Secure itinerary and securing transportation and hotel reservations
Assemble exhibits, affidavits, and other legal documents
Organize files and records material for disposition or transfer to records depositor
Draft and serve subpoenas
Prepare indictment packages
Prepare 6(e) letters for Federal Agents
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree
BACKGROUND
1-2 years of legal experience
Criminal legal experience preferred
