Staff Writer ROLE We need an experienced Staff Writer at the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Research & Development (R&D) - Medical Research and Development Command (MRDC). DHA R&D-MRDC is a global command supporting medical research for warfighter’s unique requirements. This division provides strategic communications, public affairs, marketing, and multimedia support to the PAO. In this role, you will independently produce AP-style content across formats, interview SMEs, uphold OPSEC-aware web style, and assist with command events and engagements. RESPONSIBILITIES
Work independently to create content while collaborating with experts across the command
Interview SMEs on complex issues and write plain-language newsletter articles ready for publishing
Gather information and draft press releases, video scripts, informational products, and social posts
Edit internal and external publications to ensure they are free of errors
Write and edit in AP style
Write and edit for web style with an understanding of operational security requirements
Assist and support events, VIP visits, and other MRDC command engagements as needed
Assist with developing content for annual social media campaigns
Assist with additional visit duties (lunches/coffee, name tags, take-away packets)
Collaborate with and support the Command Information, Public Affairs, Protocol & Engagements Manager as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of three (3) years of experience aligned with job duties
Familiarization with AI Tools – preferred
EDUCATON
Degree in communication-related fields - preferred
