Docketing Technician ROLE We need a Docketing Technician for the United States Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of California (USAO-EDCA). The mission of the US Attorney's Office (USAO) is to prosecute and defend cases on behalf of the federal government. As a Docketing Technician, your responsibilities will include inputting new case information into the case management system, ensuring completeness and organization of case files, and managing electronic media. You will also update and maintain automated records for criminal or civil cases, perform special case handling and referrals, assist with case certification, and provide information to various parties while exercising discretion. Additionally, you may occasionally serve as backup in reception and mail duties, including call screening, message handling, and mail processing. RESPONSIBILITIES
Input new case information into the case management system
Ensure the completeness and organization of case files for closing
Verify electronic case folders, manage electronic media, and transfer data to the Cloud Archive
Update and maintain automated records for criminal or civil cases, from initial referral to final deposition
Determine and refer incoming cases requiring special handling, often involving technical research
Assist with case certification and collaborate with attorneys for verification
Review quality control reports, correct and update paper inventories, databases, and excel spreadsheets
Receive telephone calls on case status, and retrieve information from the database or hard copy reports
Exercise discretion in releasing information
Prepare boxes weighing up to 40 lbs. for archive storage and ship documents to the Federal Records Center
Serve occasionally as a backup in reception and mail areas, screen calls and walk-in visitors
Announce calls and visitors to staff, take accurate messages, and sort and route mail
Handle special mail such as registered, certified, and classified items, and obtain receipt signatures
Prepare outgoing mail with date stamping, metering, or canceling, bundling, bagging, and wrapping bulk mail
Collect and deliver grand jury and unclassified mail and materials to various individuals and offices
REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
Ability to multi-task, is organized, and possesses detail-oriented skills
At least one year of experience in a similar environment
Be able to type at a minimum of 40 words per minute with good punctuation, spelling, and grammar skills
Be able to use relevant software used by the USAO with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
Be able to lift-up to 40 pounds
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel at a minimum of 10% as required
Must be able to work onsite at job location
