ROLE
We need an experienced Speechwriter at the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Research & Development (R&D) - Medical Research and Development Command (MRDC). DHA R&D-MRDC is a global command supporting medical research for warfighter’s unique requirements. This division provides strategic communications, public affairs, marketing, and multimedia support to the PAO. In this role, you will rapidly research topics, craft talking points and speeches for leadership across military, industry, and academic venues, and support briefings and event prep. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with writer/editor/engagements personnel to develop story ideas and approaches
- Interview SMEs on complex issues and write plain-language newsletter articles ready for publishing
- Write and edit in AP style
- Write and edit for web style with OPSEC awareness; rapidly research topics and write talking points/speeches for executive leadership
- Support leadership remarks for industry and academic events (e.g., City of Frederick, GEMS, SMART PROC)
- Support leadership remarks for military events (e.g., AUSA, MHSRS, MMPD)
- Create slide sets in PowerPoint
- Attend speaking engagements to observe presentation styles
- Participate in calendar scrubs and syncs for coverage and awareness of command events
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience aligned with job duties
- At least one (1) year of experience supporting DoD customers - preferrred
- Familiarization with AI Tools – preferred
EDUCATON
- Degree in communication-related fields - preferred
